The second explosion threw ash clouds 500 km away from the volcano!

2. The first eruption occured on April 5th, 1815. The second eruption occured on April 10th, 1815, and lasted until April 1th,1815.

Read the article carefully, and you'll see that the second eruption threw ash 500 km away, not HIGH. Here's the quote (the emphasis is mine):
"In Java the day was darkened by clouds of ashes, thrown from the mountain to that great distance of 500 km, and the houses, streets, and fields, were covered to the depth of several inches with the ashes that fell from the air."
